Was T-34 better than Sherman : On paper, it's very even. The T-34/85 wasn't as reliable as many people think, but it had at least an equal gun and armour to the best Sherman (jumbo). In practise, the Sherman was superior.

The strangest one I know is the WW1 Tsar tank or Lebedenko tank. A crazy giant tricycle with the main turret some 8 metres in the air plus a cannon in a side pod on each side of the 12 metre wide cabin. Powered by two Maybach airship engines the Russians had captured it was certainly the most powerful tank of WW1.
